Adidas looks for medals with Adizero Tempo
New running eyewear for London 2012 athletes Designed for excellent performance: extremely lightweight Adizero Tempo features an aggressive look combined with extraordinary functions. A wide selection of scratchproof LST™ lenses guarantee high levels of contrast in any light conditions and total UV protection. Even during the toughest training and races, Adizero Tempo will stay in place thanks to the softly padded nose piece and temples that can be adjusted individually so that the wearer's face is never subjected to excessive pressure. An integrated sweat band protects eyes from perspiration and ensures that the glasses stay firmly in position for maximum comfort. Because they are rimless, the field of vision is exceptionally wide, thereby guaranteeing perfect vision. The new ClimaCool™ system provides optimal ventilation and effectively prevents the formation of condensation, even in the most grueling competitions that demand greater exertion with the consequent increase in perspiration. For runners with ophthalmic problems, Adizero Tempo can be fitted with corrective lenses or with Adidas Eyewear's special inserts for corrective lenses. Adizero Tempo functions are appreciated by the world's greatest runners. Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown, three times Olympic champion and two-time world champion, commented on the new Adizero Tempo: "The weight of the glasses is a very important factor for me. From clothes to glasses, every ounce of equipment can make a difference in a competition. I have run even without glasses, but this model is so light that weight is no longer a problem." For American runner Jeremy Wariner, Olympic champion and several times world champion in the 400 meters, Adizero Tempo is even more valuable. "We all have our rituals before the start of a competition. For me, putting on my glasses is very important. It allows me to isolate myself from the rest of the world, helps me to achieve the correct concentration and focus on the race." British pentathlon champion Jessica Ennis was also struck by the glasses' incredible lightness, efficient ventilation and the GB logo for the British team, a feature of the personal Adizero Tempo model she will wear in London. "I usually wear glasses, especially for longer training, because it helps me to realize very quickly if the glasses I'm wearing are suitable: when I run for a long time, every extra ounce is felt immediately. With Adizero Tempo it was easy to forget that I was wearing them. They help me to concentrate totally on the race and they never fog up, even in high temperatures. I was very surprised to see the GB logo on the glasses. I think it was a really brilliant idea by Adidas Eyewear for London 2012: we athletes can't wait to represent our country and we want to show it. I'll be very proud to wear these glasses!".
