‘60 Minutes’ Segment Prompts An Optician’s Call to Action

NEW YORK—Focal Point Optician's David Salk crafted a pointed letter about the issues raised by the Oct. 7 "60 Minutes" segment on Luxottica titled "Sticker Shock: Why Are Glasses So Expensive?," writing, "There was great disservice done to the industry by this piece of 'investigative journalism' by '60 Minutes.'   The show failed to acknowledge the important place of the designers, factories and small independent optical professionals who are providing consumers with eyewear that brings great pleasure to their lives."   Salk has also started a petition on Change.org, calling on other independents to add their signatures to the points raised in his letter.
