France: Gifo changes name

The acronym remains the same, but the definition of Gifo, the French association of manufacturers in the optics segment, changes: the general meeting in fact unanimously approved the new definition of Groupement des Industriels et Fabricants de l'Optique instead of Groupement des Industries Françaises de l'Optique.

This new name is chosen to include the word 'manufacturers' as defined in European directives; according to these, the term applies to companies who take on the responsibility of placing a product on the market under their own name. The new definition of Gifo also gives a better description of the activities carried out by its member unions.
