'Campus boy' by Laura Biagiotti

'Campus boy' by Laura Biagiotti

It was a 'campus boy' who paraded the Laura Biagiotti runway to present the men's fall/winter 2005/2006 collection: little, clever-boy glasses, neatly combed hair and a blazer with knitted lapels.

But the same garments also look good on young and not so young boys, and goes well with the American campus intellectual style that leaves room for the sporty, healthy-mind-in-a-healthy-body touch.

Scholarly chic on the runway included Prince of Wales check trenches, blazers in shades of rust and with knitted lapels, generous tricot cardigans, cashmere pants, pullovers and three-dimensional effect bombers, with combos of checks, stripes, herring-bone and giant hound's tooth check.

The accessories were also original: 'book bags' in stressed leather with British-style fabric inserts, sneakers in tartan for undergraduate and vintage leather, shiny neckties and bow ties. And, of course, tortoiseshell glasses to take the fashion show invitation literally: 'read read read!', signed by Laura Biagiotti. It wasn't by chance that in Treccani's 'Book of the year 2004' she wrote an entire chapter dedicated to 'Made in Italy' for her first appearance among the subjects of the prestigious encyclopedia.
