First wins for the Carrera Ski Racing Team
The World Skiing Championships 2005 are well underway and the Carrera Ski Racing Team already has several wins in the various Alpine skiing disciplines. It has first places in each classification and is taking Carrera helmets and goggles onto the highest steps of every podium.
After the recent women's races at Aspen in Colorado (USA) and at Val D'Isere (France) for men, the Carrera Ski Racing Team athletes are pleased about their successes.
Standing out in the women's Slalom races is Anja Paerson from Sweden who had a final time of 1.36.01. The awards in the Giant Slalom went almost entirely to Carrera, with Maria Josè Rienda Contreras on the top step of the podium and Anja Paerson in second place. Good results also for Austrian-born Alexandra Meissnitzer who ended the Super G in fourth place and consolidated her position in the general classification.
Excellent positions by the Carrera Ski Racing Team skier in the various classifications: Anja Paerson is the undisputed leader and she dominates the Slalom with 100 points and the Giant Slalom with 140 points, while in the general classification she has maintained second position with 262 points and is aiming for a first with huge commitment and determination. Important wins also for Alexandra Meissnitzer who leads the Super G classification with 150 points and is already third in the general classification with 260 points. Also in an excellent position is Maria Josè Rienda Contreras - 140 points and 2nd place in the Giant Slalom.
Michael Walchhofer from Austria is currently the star of the men's races. At Val d'Isere he dominated the Downhill and won the race with a final time of 2.00.15. Together with fellow-Austrian Rainer Schoenfelder he won a place on the podium in the Supercombination. At present, the positions in the male classifications are excellent for Michael Walchhofer, third in the general classification (318 points), first in the Combined classification, and second in the Downhill. Excellent results also for Rainer Schoenfelder who comes second with 80 points in the Combined and third in the Giant Slalom with 86 points. Austrian Hermann Maier aims to win the Giant Slalom classification and is currently second with 132 points.
Great satisfaction for the Carrera Ski Racing Team athletes who are preparing to give their all at the upcoming Winter Olympics 2006 in Turin. The Carrera helmets and goggles, whose quality is guaranteed by the experience of the Safilo Group, are essential for safety and will accompany the athletes on all their races.
