First Special Olympics Opening Eyes event in France

Huge success for the first Special Olympics Opening Eyes event of France, that took place on the 23rd of January: more than 450 athletes met in Eubonne and experienced an important cultural and uplifting event.

Safilo Group and Essilor International, Official Worldwide Suppliers of Eyewear and Ophthalmic lenses to the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program since 2003, again actively participated to the event.

During the Special Olympics day athletic competitions and football matches, along with a series of free screenings organized within the 'Healthy Athletes' program, took place. The athletes had their eyes checked by the Opening Eyes area between competitions. About 249 athletes were screened by 111 volunteer eye care professionals.

On this occasion Safilo Group and Essilor International donated about 90 ophthalmic frames, 180 sunglasses and 180 ophthalmic lenses to the athletes that took part to the screenings.
