9000 pairs of glasses donated to two hospitals in Kabul

Thanks to a collaboration agreement between the Italian contingent stationed in Kabul and the Italian Lions Clubs, two important hospitals in the Afghan capital, the Wazir Akbar-Khan Surgical Hospital and the Military Hospital, have received 9,000 pairs of prescription glasses.

Italian military personnel and the representatives of the Italian Lions Clubs were met at Wazir Akbar-Khan Surgical Hospital by Robert Antonucci, an American ophthalmologist of Italian origin who has been working in Kabul for many years. After expressing his thanks for the generous contribution and solidarity, he illustrated the most common eye disorders in Afghanistan and the lack of means available to treat them.

On his part, the director of the Military Hospital, Abdul Qasem Ahmadi, expressed his gratitude to Colonel Gerardo Restaino, vice-commander of the Italian contingent, who was representing General Graziano.
