14 designer labels join forces against unauthorised distribution
14 Italian designer labels have joined forces to fight the problem of parallel unauthorised sales by 'undertaking various initiatives designed to protect their image and especially their costumers'.
In fact checks on products are few especially in non-EU countries once the goods are handed to distributors: the illegal circulation of products mainly starts in Asia. These items return to their former European market at half their original price and can be found in low quality chain stores.
The trademarks, which have declared their interest in this project are: Barbour, Bikkembergs, Diesel, Energie, Extè, Fred Perry, Gant, Gianfranco Ferré, Just Cavalli, La Martina, Merrell, Miss Sixty, Refrigiwear and Woolrich.
The first provisions will concern the creation of an investigation network designed to keep an eye on shopkeepers. These measures will be followed by joint warning notices and newspaper advertisements, especially in the province's newspapers, which will publish the list of authorised retailers.
