Silhouette Moves Its US Headquarters to Green Island

An Austrian eyeglass manufacturer is moving its U.S. headquarters to the village of Green Island and hiring approximately 80 people. Silhouette Optical Ltd. of Linz, Austria, will use its new building for distribution and administrative offices. The family-owned company has outgrown it's current U.S. headquarters in Northvale, N.J., where it has been based for the last 18 years. " We keep attaching trailers and renting space, " said Genevieve Fay, director of marketing for the company. " We need a facility. " The company, which makes both prescription glasses and sunglasses, expects to be in the Albany County community of Green Island by June 2003.
