Marcolin, Agreement with 'Costume National'
The Marcolin Group has signed an agreement with the fashion house Costume National for the distribution of a sun and sight eyewear line. 'The start of sell-in' Maurizio Marcolin told MFF, 'is forecast for the middle of January and between February and March the collection will be available for sale to the public'.
The collection will aim at the middle-top range of the market with billings of 20 million euros forecast for the five years of the licensing agreement. Distribution to very carefully selected outlets will initially take place in Italy, Great Britain, Sweden, Greece, Japan and the USA. Designed by the creative director of Costume National, Ennio Capata, the frames will be officially presented in Milan on Monday, January 13.
'The objective' stated Carlo Capata, who handles the company's financial side, 'is to create frames that revive the workmanship of former times but in a modern key; in other words, the artisan product brought up to date. The result is a timeless image and total attention to detail. The Marcolin Group is the perfect size for constructing a product of this type and for setting up suitable distribution'. Some special features of the models include the reinterpretation of aluminum and innovative nuances compared to those already on the market.
Established in 1986, Costume National's billings in 2002 were approximately 50 million euros. The company intends to create an entire lifestyle under its own brand name and after perfumes and eyewear it will be aiming at a young prêt-à-porter line and the watch segment.
