Guinness glasses
Heyno Casimir is an optician who owns a store (Optik Casimir) in Meinerzhagen, a peaceful German town in Sauerland, which, until today at least, offered its inhabitants little to get excited about.
But in an attempt to reactivate the town center, the optician had an idea for the local fair that will be proposed for entry in the Guinness Book of Records: sponsored by the citizens and a few companies, Casimir built an unusually large pair of glasses.
The 'colossal' glasses sculpture, which will be situated in the center of the town, weighs almost 750 kilos, the structure is in aluminum and, just like real glasses, they're fitted with nose pads, hinges and plastic lenses.
The townspeople are invited to make a donation to the Christoffel-Blindenmission, the national association in support of the blind, and be 'immortalized' by signing the plastic lenses.
