France, a Year of Growth for the Alain Afflelou Optics Chain
The optics stores franchised under the Alain Afflelou sign, the chain named after the Algerian optician who created it in 1979, had an 11.5% increase in sales compared to the same period of the previous year. As far as the trend for the entire year is concerned, growth was 5.7% (with a constant average of 3.3%), with turnover of 373.7 million euros for the entire year and 98.6 million euros for the last quarter.
Today, the Alain Afflelou network has 507 outlets (at April 30, 2003) compared to 488 in the same period of the previous year.
Turnover from franchising has remained more or less stable compared to the previous year (+0.5%), but turnover from branches was up by 17.3%.
