Fielmann grows in the third quarter

Fielmannhas outperformed its forecasts for the third quarter of financial year 2003. Spectacle unit sales rose by 16.2% to 4.4 million, with external sales including VAT, franchises and industry up 12.8% to € 681.9 million. Pre-tax profit increased 36.1% to € 71.8 million.

With 5% of all optical outlets in Germany (Fielmann: 455 branches/sector: 9,800 outlets), half of all glasses sold Germany are sold by Fielmann.

The management expect to close the year with the highest unit sales, sales and profit in the company's history and it seems to be real: in the first week of November, unit sales in Germany were up 100% on the same period in the previous year.

This is due to the reduction in health service benefits planned for next year, which has led to demand being brought forward to the fourth quarter of this year.
