Excellent results for Beijing's optics fair

On September 26 the sixteenth edition of the China International Optical Fair 2003 drew to a close. Located in an area of over 24,000 square meters, the exhibition was held in the China International Exhibition Centre in the Chinese capital. With its 589 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions (including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Korea, United Kingdom and United States) the fair had over 40 thousand visitors from 54 countries.

Again this year, Silmo had organized a French pavilion within the fair and there were a large number of vips from numerous trade associations from such countries as such as Hong Kong Sar, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

According to a survey carried out by the organizers at the end of the fair, 84% of exhibitors confirmed they would be present at the next edition.

The optical products market in China is growing. The latest available statistics say that the value of Chinese production in 2002 amounted to a total of 1.51 billion dollars, a 20% increase compared to the figures for the previous year, with exports at 808 million dollars, an increase of 8.8%. During the first six months of this year, exports were 491 million dollars (+22.57%), while imports recorded an increase of 75.74%, a total value of 383 million dollars.

The next two exhibitions to take place in 2004 are the China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair 2004, from February 18 through 20 in the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Centre, and the China (Beijing) International Optics Fair from September 22 through 24, again at the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing.
