Dolce & Gabbana ready for the Thai market
After two years of market testing, Dolce & Gabbana and D&G Eyewear are ready to fully penetrate the Thai market: the two brands produced by Marcolin will be distributed by Thai Optical Eyewear Distribution Co. (part of the Thai Optical Group) on a year-on-year contract basis.
"We have watched the luxury eyeglass market grow each year and expect it to continue as the Thai economy continues to improve, giving Thai people higher purchasing power", Thai Optical Eyewear Distribution Co managing director Jamorn Rummani said.
The Dolce & Gabbana Eyewear brand targets 30 to 50 year olds, while D&G Eyewear targets the youth market, that's the reason why Thai Optical would have to launch two separate marketing campaigns for the brands.
Thai Optical is contracted to handle marketing, point-of-sale displays and advertising, under close supervision of Marcolin and the Dolce & Gabbana company. "It's not really a difficult job to build brand awareness, as many Thai people already known the brand name", said Jamorn.
Thai Optical is expecting to sell about 10,000 pairs of each brand per year, including sunglasses and optical products.
