Bausch & Lomb Donates $100,000 to Prevent Blindness America

Bausch & Lomb is donating $100,000 to Prevent Blindness America (PBA), the leading volunteer eye health and safety organization in the United States, to support vision research and initiatives promoting eye health, particularly among children.

'Bausch & Lomb has always had a deep commitment to research and outreach efforts that support its mission of perfecting vision and enhancing life,' said Daniel D. Garrett, senior vice president, PBA. 'With Bausch Prevent Blindness America (PBA)& Lomb's help, we are able to provide a range of important programs including free vision screenings for children across the country and public education campaigns promoting general eye health.'

The Bausch & Lomb-PBA partnership announcement coincides with the designation of May as Healthy Vision Month by the National Eye Institute. This year, the theme for Healthy Vision Month is reducing blindness and visual impairment in children and adolescents, which complements the Bausch & Lomb and PBA partnership. According to PBA, more than 80 million Americans are at risk for blindness and visual impairments, and more than half of all cases of blindness are preventable.

'Prevention and education go hand-in-hand,' said Robert J. Moore, Bausch & Lomb vice president of Marketing - Americas Region. 'The timing of our collaboration with PBA is ideal due to the additional awareness surrounding the NEI's Healthy Vision Month program. One of the goals of our partnership with PBA is to educate as many people as possible about the importance of regular visits to their eye doctors to facilitate early detection and treatment of sight-threatening conditions.'
