Amo buys a manufacturing facility in Madrid

Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. has announced that its Spanish subsidiary has completed the purchase of an existing manufacturing facility in Madrid, Spain, from Alcon Cusi, SA, a subsidiary of Alcon, Inc.

Amo paid approximately $22 million for the facility and will use it to manufacture its eye care products, including its Complete branded product line. Amo expects the facility, that currently meets Iso and Fda standards for manufacturing ophthalmic products, to commence production runs by mid-year 2004.
