U.S. Frame Exports Grow Faster than Imports

The United States has exported 6.4M of pairs of frames worth $40.5M during the first half of the current year. This translates to an increase of 40.3 percent increase in units but only 0.7 percent in value over the same period last year.

Overall average price of US frames dropped considerably: 28.2 percent, to only $6.36 per pair from $8.86 in the prior year. Non-plastic frames, which account for 68.7 percent of the total US frame exports, continued to surge, increasing by 46.7 percent in units.

These frames, however, suffered a significant price drop pushing their export value to only increase by 0.2 percent. Average price of non-plastic frames fell by 31.7 percent from $10.39 per pair to only $7.10 per pair.

Canada remains the largest US frame destination. By the end of the first semester, this country has accounted for 34 percent of the total US frame exports based on units and 42 percent based on value.
