'Plein sud' debut in eyewear

Fayçal AmorPlein sud, the womenswear brand led by designer Fayçal Amor, is about to make its debut in the world of eyewear. Stefano Battistini, head of the accessories division of Plein sud, explained to MFF that, as far as eyewear and perfumes were concerned, the company is 'evaluating licenses that should be signed in 2003. Negotiations have begun with Italian companies, even though we've also been in contact with the United States for eyewear'.

Closing 2002 with billings of approximately 40 million euros, the company is building up the entire accessories dimension launched four years ago with footwear and belts. In '98, turnover for this section was 250,000 euros, this year it will be 2.5 million euros and increase to three next year. An ad hoc division has been created in Milan specifically for accessories and it will handle production and distribution to specialist stores.

Milan (and Via Montenapoleone, to be precise) is one of the places that Plain sud has its eye on for a new boutique. The other targets are Piazza di Spagna in Rome, followed by Los Angeles, Moscow and Kiev.
