Safilo, 48.5 million net profit in the first six months of 2002

In the first six months of 2002, the Safilo Group's consolidated billings topped 510 million euros, and increase of 5%, whereas net profits showed an 18% increase, rising to 48.5 million euros compared to 41.1 million in 2001.
The group owned by Vittorio Tabacchi is present in over 120 countries and growth is especially marked in the European countries where it operates. In France, where it has just opened a showroom on the Champs Elysées in Paris, the company saw a 13% increase in business compared to the same period last year.
