Rochester Optical, from eyewear manufacturing to retail sales

Nylon googles by Rochester OpticalThe American eyewear company, Rochester Optical, has decided to sell its own products at factory prices, and the first outlet opened in Rochester has been followed by a second one in Perinton.
The owner of Rochester Optical, Patrick Ho, wants to invest in retail as backup for his wholesale business.

When he took over the company in 1991, Rochester Optical was on the verge of bankruptcy because of the loss of military orders for plastic frames. To save the company, Ho developed new product lines and attracted new customers. Once the wholesale business had stabilized again, he started looking at retail for direct sales to consumers. "Today's consumers are better informed", Ho said, "and they force the retail market to change'. According to the owner of the company, retail could be a way of increasing turnover and controlling credit risks.
Ho would like to open about one outlet a year and is considering the possibility of opening up in other states as well.

Rochester Optical began business in 1932, when it specialized in the production of top-quality lenses. A few years later, the company also began to make frames, mainly for military personnel and pilots. Subsequently, it became famous in the United States for its quality products and, in particular, for its service.
