Nautica, Cruise 2003 collection

The cruise season is approaching and thoughts turn from daily routine to mental pictures of beaches and swimming pools. Whether it's a weekend on the Red Sea or an entire week in the Maldives, a suitable wardrobe is obviously a must. David Chu, designer and president of Nautica, has decided to present four different "Cruise 2003 deliveries" this year, too: the vintage footprint of the Nautica Collection Separates line, the sex appeal of the Beach House line, the exuberance of Nautica Blue and the Signal motifs inspired by the America's Cup, have all been designed to meet the needs that beach life imposes on every woman. The eyewear in the Nautica Cruise 2003 collections, in particular, is the modern development of classical themes that combines fashion and functionality.

The American Nautica group is also going through a particularly positive period and the company's results in the second quarter of 2002 were excellent. At 10.4 million dollars, net profits for the period were in excess of 15.5% compared to the same period one year ago. Much of this is due to an improvement in gross margins which increased to 43.9% from the 41.7% of the same period during the previous year. The group stated that in 2003 it expects to distribute dividends of between 90 and 91 cents per share, extraordinary charges excluded.
