Carl Zeiss, the Highest Revenues in Its History
In the 2001/2002 fiscal year (ended September 30), Carl Zeiss Group generated the highest revenues ever recorded in its history with a figure totaling EUR 2.257 billion. Allowing for changes to the portfolio, this is an increase of 6 percent over the previous year (EUR 2.056 billion). This means that the Carl Zeiss Group has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 12 percent in the past five years.
The pre-tax result also rose to EUR 147 million (last year EUR 139 million). Net annual income will probably lie just under last year's record figure (EUR 110 million). On October 1, 2002 Carl Zeiss employed a total global workforce of 14,702 people, including 4,157 outside Germany.
Dr. Dieter Kurz, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss, showed great satisfaction: "Despite a slowdown in the global economy, the company has once again successfully asserted its position on the market thanks to its innovative strength and market leadership. We know, however, that the coming months will be considerably more difficult. The continuing negative trends evident in the global economy will also have repercussions on our business."
