Running to the rhythm of prevention:CDV ETS partner of Cardio Race 2024

The event returns for the second consecutive year in Rome from October 4 to 6, offering free eye check-ups

Commissione Difesa Vista ETS renews its commitment alongside Cardio Race 2024, an event founded in 2013 and now in its 8th edition, aimed at raising awareness about heart health in a 360° approach, from cardiovascular disease research to the fight against sudden cardiac death.

At the historic Capannelle Racecourse in Rome, CDV ETS will participate in the three-day event, providing specialized teams offering free eye screenings. The check-ups will take place on today, October 4, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, October 5, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday, October 6, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Health Village, a thematic area dedicated to healthcare prevention.

With 1,200 medical visits, 3,100 visitors, and 2,000 runners at the 2023 edition, Cardio Race is confirmed as a leading event dedicated to cardiovascular health, promoting wellness culture through a rich program of meetings, races, and runs.

The ophthalmologists and opticians conducting the screenings, organized by Commissione Difesa Vista ETS, will use the best equipment from its technology partners, who are also market leaders: Essilor, Zeiss, and Frastema Ophthalmics. Additionally, the GreenVision group will collaborate with CDV in this initiative, providing support with its professionals for the optical segment.

“Often, we forget that prevention is like a large mosaic made up of many pieces: it is important to conduct targeted tests, but also to identify risk factors in advance and correct certain lifestyle habits. CDV enthusiastically confirms its collaboration with Cardio Race because it shares, above all, its multidisciplinary approach to diseases," explains Vittorio Tabacchi, President of the Third Sector Organization.

"During events like Cardio Race, we bring specialists into direct contact with the public: through the screenings, we provide clear and precise information on the precautions people should take to avoid complications. By identifying pathological issues or refractive defects early on, we encourage individuals to seek further testing and not underestimate problems that, if addressed in time and appropriately, could be easily resolved."

Commissione Difesa Vista ETS emphasizes the importance of regularly monitoring one's visual well-being through periodic check-ups. The International Labour Organization, in collaboration with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, estimated that in 2020, among the working-age population, approximately 143 million people suffered from moderate to severe visual impairments, and about 18 million were blind (data from the "Eye health and the world of work" report).
