MIDO privileged international observatory of eyewear trends

MIDO privileged international observatory of eyewear trends

All operators in the sector, from large companies to emerging players, are waiting for MIDO to present their collections and new products for the first time.

And it is also for this reason that the Milan show can count on an important number of exhibitors, which makes it one of the largest national trade fair events. Among the stands where the exhibitors are located, you can find all the main trends in the sector. Walking through the halls, for example, the new reflexive-oriented approach in eyewear design, which mixes natural elements with artistic and cultural influences, becomes clear. The focus on sustainable materials and the reduction of thicknesses is also renewed, culminating in almost evanescent frames. The shapes, from classic to octagons, are enriched with bold details and micro-architecture. From calm and earthy textures and colors inspired by nature, we move on to a color palette that, in addition to the classic black and Havana, includes various variations of red, blue and green that change, depending on the finishes and transparencies of the materials, often biocompatible, recyclable and recycled. Finally, an interesting inspiration: the mistake as a celebration of imperfection, a source of creative freedom and uniqueness, which breaks rules and stereotypes with inspirations drawn from punk subcultures, techno and rock music, and biker symbols.

Furthermore, color no longer seems to be just an aesthetic or trendy choice, but a real language that involves ethics, emotion and memory. A rediscovery of iconic and timeless colors is evident: color design is based on conscious choices that reflect the personality and identity of the wearer. The shades, therefore, evolve from their physical dimension to the emotional and symbolic component: no longer a traditional conception of color, linked to the commercial cycles of fashion, but to a more personal and sustainable approach.

Influences also found in this morning's two conferences, connected by the common thread of new eyewear trends: the first, "Eyewear Observatory: the 2025 Trends" with journalist Alessandra Albarello, the second meeting, "The new dimensions of color", with Industrial designer Francesca Valan, industrial designer and leading color expert, interviewed by German DOZ journalist Angela Mrositzki.
