The birth of Confindustria Moda
The newly-formed fashion, textile and accessories federation represents more than 67,000 Made in Italy companies that generate billings of over 88 billion euros. Confindustria Moda groups together the companies that are members of SMI and FIAMP – which unites the Italian association of leather and leather substitutes manufacturers, the Italian fur association, ANFAO, the association of footwear manufacturers and the Italian federation of goldsmiths, silversmiths and jewelry manufacturers. The membership also of the union of Italian tanning industries will soon be made official. Its president is Claudio Marenzi, president of Sistema Moda Italia, while the vice president is Cirillo Marcolin, president of the Italian federation of fashion and personal accessories and ANFAO. The associations will continue to maintain operational autonomy with regard to vertical and specific themes for each sector (for example, shows and exhibitions), whereas, for the moment, Confindustria Moda will provide transversal services such as legal advice, industrial relations management and a development office. The presidency will alternate between SMI and FIAMP with biennial mandates, and between two general managers with specific mandates: Gianfranco di Natale, current general manager of SMI, and Astrid Galimberti, who covers the same role in ANFAO.
