“Musical Labyrinth” by Daniel Libeskind
The outcome of a collaboration between Daniel Libeskind and Spanish multinational Cosentino, “Musical Labyrinth” is a new installation scheduled to be inaugurated on 9 May in Opera Square, Frankfurt. Covering 289 m2, the installation is based on an original sketch by Libeskind and simulates a vast landscape in shades of black etched in white. It was made possible by using Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface which, in addition to its physical characteristics and strength, can also be customized with techniques like etching. The work consists of 80 Dekton “Sirius” 3.2x1.4 m, 2m-thick customized slabs onto which Libeskind’s drawing is etched in white relief. The lines make up an imaginary labyrinth within the city and point to the 18 locations of the various concerts and performances associated with the “One Day in Life" initiative.
