
Migliore+Servetto Architects for International Footwear Museum
Inaugurated at Vigevano on October 7 were the new ShoeStyle Lab and Mic-Museo Internazionale della Calzatura “P. Bertolini”, which has been totally renovated with ad hoc settings designed by Milan firm, Migliore+Servetto Architects. A new route of discovery with multimedia systems, interactive tables, lights and graphics for studying the various sections of the Museum and exploring the new multimedia gallery devoted to the history of the stiletto heel and its various styles. The route begins with the historical section, where displays include the shoes worn by Beatrice d’Este; it continues with rooms devoted to famous Vigevano, Italian and international designers, up to the gallery that showcases the birth of the stiletto heel at Vigevano in 1953. Next to the Museum is the Fab Lab della creatività calzaturiera (Fab Lab of creative footwear): a laboratory where students of fashion and design, but also anyone who is simply interested in footwear, have the opportunity to realize their creative dreams by working with artisans and companies in the sector.
