Kengo Kuma for Tokyo 2020 Olympic games

Kengo Kuma for Tokyo 2020 Olympic games

After turning down Zaha Hadid’s project for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic stadium because it was considered too expensive, Japan has decided to entrust the construction to architect Kengo Kuma. It will cost around 1 billion euros and work will be completed in November 2019. The structure designed by Kengo Kuma will be almost 50 meters high, will seat 68,000 people and all the materials will be environment friendly. The architect has stated that he wants to use a lot of wood inside the arena, with the aim of making spectators feel that they are surrounded by nature while watching the games.
