Citco's tables at the auction in London
Citco have provided the Zaha Hadid Foundation with a set of Mercuric Tables in white Covelano marble, designed by Zaha Hadid in 2013, for an auction to benefit the new Design Museum of London, that took place at the end of April. The Mercuric Tables are objects with an organic form that seem to have been shaped in clay, sinuous and polished like stones in rivers or on the seashore and they went for £106,900. The new Design Museum, slated to open to the public on 24 November 2016, will be the most important facility of its kind in the world for contemporary design and architecture, a creative centre with a focus on nurturing innovation while supporting the next generation of design talent.Located in the former Commonwealth Institute building on Kensington High Street, the new museum will have three times the space of the present venue, and will include an education centre, an auditorium and a large gallery for the permanent collection, an international showcase of great design masterworks.
