
Afflelou opens in China and grows in Africa
The Alain Afflelou Group continues to grow at international level. At the end of February chairman Frédéric Poux announced that it had signed its first franchise agreement with a Chinese partner. The first four stores will be opened in Chongqing and Chengdu, in the mountainous Chinese region of Sichuan, home to 40 million people, under the Afflelou Paris brand, underlining the Group's French origins. Meanwhile, at the end of March it was announced in Casablanca that there would be further growth in Africa through the partner Optical Discount. The goal is to open 45 optical stores across Morocco with the aim of totalling 100 stores across Africa. The Group currently has 3 stores in Ivory Coast, 18 in Morocco, 3 in Tunisia, 2 in Lebanon, 2 in Algeria and 1 in Senegal.
