
The world premiere of Films of City Frames by Giorgio Armani was presented in Toronto
Roberta Armani and Oscar Edward Zwick hosted the screening of short films produced by students from six international cinema schools The world premiere of Films of City Frames was held at St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, Toronto, on Saturday, 6 September. The initiative, which was sponsored by the stylist, once again states his deep appreciation for cinema through the rich narrative world created around the Frames of Life collection. The screening of these short films was introduced by Oscar winning director and producer Edward Zwick, who also introduced the students to the public. The event was organised as part of the Toronto International Film Festival, which is sponsored by Giorgio Armani. "I am extremely happy that Edward Zwick is participating in the presentation of the one-reelers Films of City Frames. Edward is a talented producer and director with whom I have had the pleasure of working on more than one occasion. With an intense passion for and deep commitment to film-making, he is the right person to present this project, whose principal goal is to promote future talents," said Giorgio Armani. "I am honoured to participate with Giorgio Armani in this project for young cinema talents. The work is fascinating because it converges the fashion world with that of cinema," said Edward Zwick. The Oscar winning director and producer enthusiastically embraced the initiative, since he too has long been a mentor for would-be directors through his lessons held at the American Film Institute and the USC School of Cinematic Arts. The screening of the short films was followed by a round table conference chaired by Imran Amed, founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Business of Fashion, the authoritative online editorial platform and media partner of the event. The evening drew to a close with the exclusive cocktail party held at the iconic CN Tower, hosted by Roberta Armani and by the Oscar winning director and producer Edward Zwick, with musical animation provided by Mark Ronson's DJ set. The Wall of Frames, a special initiative designed to allow users to express their opinion by voting the one-reelers Films of City Frames in the various categories will also be launched. Users may then share the experience on their social networks. With this broad ranging joint project, Giorgio Armani continues to back emerging talents in the various frameworks, ranging from fashion to cinema. Produced in partnership with Luxottica and Rai Cinema, Films of City Frames stages the work of would-be directors from six prestigious international schools, namely NYU, Tisch School of the Arts - (NYC); USC, School of Cinematic Arts - (LA); NFTS, National Film and Television School - (London); Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia - (Rome); Esra, Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation - (Paris); The Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts - (Hong Kong).
