Persol launches Film Noir Edition

The brand shines the spotlight on an elegant '50s version of the Persol Arrow Persol has launched Film Noir Edition, a capsule collection that celebrates the brand's style by shining the spotlight on an elegant '50s version of the Persol Arrow. To create this iconic new edition, Persol went on a journey of exploration to reinterpret a decade that is particularly fascinating and rich in history. The meticulous search through the archives revealed that over the years there were many variations of the classic Persol Arrow – the brand's unmistakable signature – including the Phoenix Arrow that has been interpreted with a contemporary touch and is reborn exclusively for Film Noir Edition eyewear.   With its characteristic striped pattern, the Phoenix Arrow was inspired by the mythical bird, the fabulous creature that is reborn from its ashes and a universal symbol of rebirth. For Phoenix, art is the ability to continually reinvent oneself and this is why Persol chose it as the key element in the reinterpretation of its heritage of style. Inspired by the ethos of film noir, the genre that symbolizes the '50s, Persol has given the iconic Phoenix Arrow new life; reinterpreted with a contemporary touch, its special design gives the temples an unmistakable imprint.   The result is the Film Noir capsule collection, where mysterious, intriguing and dreamlike ambiences are transfused into two ultra-new sunglasses (PO3072S and PO3074S) and two optical models (PO3070V and PO3073V). The reference to the plots of the famous thrillers that inspired the models has been made even more evocative by Persol: Gangster (PO3072S), Femme Fatale, (PO3070V), Reporter (PO3073V), Detective (PO3074S). Four personalities that perfectly interpret this exciting "movie collection". Sunglasses PO3072S and PO3074S are available with Polar and Photo-Polar lenses, also in shaded versions. Made from glass in accordance with the most advanced technologies and the scrupulous care of artisans, these lenses have exceptional characteristics for anyone looking for protection from the harmful rays of the sun and also for perfectly clear vision. In fact Polar lenses minimize reflections where reverberations are strong thanks to barrier filters that completely block UV rays. Photo-Polar lenses combine the polarized filtering action with that of a photochromic filter: the former blocks reflected light for clear, sharp vision while the latter's color density changes with changing light conditions to guarantee excellent vision in all weather conditions – even the most extreme.   PO3072S The Gangster was the inspiration for the acetate sun model with decisive, masculine lines in a modern reinterpretation of '50s style. The eyewear has a square front harmoniously joined to the temples with the metal Phoenix Arrow hinge. The temples have the classic Meflecto system. A rich color palette includes black with green or Polar green lenses; striped brown with blue lenses; dark opal blue with shaded Polar gray lenses; dark opal red with Photo-Polar shaded brown lenses; Havana with green or polarized brown lenses.   PO3074S The Detective is the film noir character to which this rectangular sun model in acetate pays homage. Comfortable and close fitting, it is a contemporary version that conjures up the fascinating dark mood of '50s movies, also thanks to the unmistakable design of the Phoenix Arrow that illuminates the front and temples with the Meflecto system. Colors: black with green or Polar green lenses; striped brown with blue lenses; dark opal green with shaded Polar gray lenses; dark opal grey with shaded Photo-Polar gray lenses; Havana with green lenses or Polar brown lenses.   PO3070V The Femme Fatale, the omnipresent star of '50s movies, inspired this optical model in acetate with slightly cat-eye lines for an updated version of diva glamour. The sinuous, seductive frame reveals its character in the metal Phoenix Arrow hinge that illuminates the front and temples with the Meflecto system. In addition to black, Havana and striped brown, the color palette includes the sophisticated nuances of dark opal blue and dark opal red.   PO3073V The Reporter, a classic role in film noir, would appreciate this rectangular optical model with its balanced, regular design that's perfect for any face. The '50s mood is conjured up in this contemporary interpretation by the Phoenix Arrow, a decisive design detail that illuminates the front and temples with the Meflecto system. The acetate frames come in black, Havana, striped green and exclusive dark opal green and dark opal gray.   During the first week of March 2014 Persol will launch Phoenix Reborn, a contest for a mini film noir video made by users. It will be possible to access the contest on www.persol.com.
