Oliver Peoples announces new collaboration with Amanda R. Hearst
Inspired by Hearst Castle the new model will be presented in summer 2014 Oliver Peoples is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Amanda R. Hearst, philanthropist, journalist and the face of the brand in 2014. Thanks to her commitment to the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation, Amanda perfectly embodies the authentic lifestyle and integrity of Oliver Peoples. The close collaboration between Amanda and Larry Leight, Oliver Peoples co-founder and creative director, has led to a new eyewear model inspired by Hearst Castle itself and due to be presented in summer 2014. As the protagonist of the 2014 advertising campaign, Amanda wanted to design a frame that encompassed the unmistakable and timeless Oliver Peoples look but revisited in her personal style. Although Amanda knows Hearst Castle well, the sumptuousness and rich colors of the estate's rooms, pools and atria provided new sources of inspiration during the photo shoot for Oliver Peoples. Amanda saw immediately that the deep shades of blue, the splendor of gold and the delicate shades of ivory and silver were a perfect color palette for the model created for the brand. At the Oliver Peoples headquarters in West Hollywood, Amanda worked side by side with Leight, whose vast technical expertise in designing eyewear was acquired over many years working as an optician. The collaboration led to eyewear that pays homage to the Castle and represents the naturally cool style that is typically Californian, a quality that is shared by Amanda and the Oliver Peoples brand. "California has a rich and fascinating history and Larry and I decided to focus on this splendid state", Amanda said. "Oliver Peoples is a company that values its Californian roots and ours was a perfect partnership because Hearst Castle is an authentic symbol of the state. For me this eyewear was a unique way of celebrating the exceptional beauty of Hearst Castle with a brand that was directly involved in its preservation." Oliver Peoples x Amanda R. Hearst pilot sunglasses with a double bridge are made in titanium and have Windsor rims in acetate. The classical shape that enhances both male and female characteristics comes in unique color combinations for a casual look with a glamorous touch. The four variants are named after the locales that are most representative of Hearst Castle. In Goldwood acetate with mirrored lenses in shaded blue, Roman calls to mind the unique deep blue of the internal Roman pool with its meticulous intertwining of shiny golden mosaics. Neptune features soft shades like pink gold, azure and pearl white that recall the magnificent external pool embellished with delicately veined Vermont marble statues and floors. Inspired by the nuances of the night sky that embraces the Castle after dusk, Sunset is a combination of matte black and pewter. The last color variant, Pico, is a blend of classical tortoiseshell acetate and exceptional mirrored bronze lenses that conjure up the atmosphere of Hearst Ranch, where the splendid Pico Creek Arabian horses are bred. Thanks to the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation's considerable efforts, the historical estate is excellently maintained and its original spirit has been preserved. The Foundation's main aim is to protect and restore the 25,000 valuable objects that are kept in Hearst Castle. Amanda herself is a member of the Foundation's Junior Board, which is directed by her mother, Anne Hearst McInerney.
