Theo & James explore unknown paths
Theo likes to be unpredictable. You can see this in the latest collection that the brand is presenting. theo by James is a series with no equivalent. The 2 models, designed by Belgian designer James Van Vossel, are genuine eye-catchers. The designer was given carte blanche and was therefore able to give free rein to his creativity.
“Always colouring inside the lines is not really necessary at all”, says theo big boss Wim Somers. Cooperation between the eyewear brand Theo and James Van Vossel was written in the stars. theo had had its sights on the versatility of this young designer for a long time. On the other side, James experimented cheerfully with glasses and the result appealed to the imagination. It quickly became clear that this creative spirit would not be bound by rules and could not be pigeonholed. This is exactly how theo likes things. And the common ground did not stop there. James outlines the situation: “The Theo brand and my own label James share the same playfulness”.
The James 1 and James 2 models With the OXO game in the back of his head, James allowed the glasses’ sidepieces to cross at the front of the frame. This means that the spectacle lenses are, so to speak, separated by the letter X. The unisex glasses made of titanium are extremely light and comfortable. The client has a choice of 6 colours per model. The frame is quite evident and the spectacle lenses are large, which is extremely suited to multifocal lenses.
Theo likes to work together with different designers. This means that young designers not only get a chance to place their designs on the market; for theo it means a constant input of new, fresh ideas. theo’s collection of sunglasses has been produced for the third time in a row by successful designer Tim Van Steenbergen. In addition, theo helps 2 students from the Antwerp Fashion Academy to produce accessories for their end-of-year fashion show every year.
