Sover signs with Umbro and Nickelodeon

A double agreement for Sover, the Belluno-based eyewear manufacturer that numbers among the top companies in Italy for the design and production of eyewear and is already licensee for 1a Classe Alviero Martini, Kiton, Mariella Burani, and Baldinini, which will distribute the brand names of Umbro and Nickelodeon beginning in 2010.
The two, three-year agreements for the Italian market represent a new step forward for the company run by the Cannicci family. Just one month ago the company announced a similar agreement with the Gant brand name, owned by the American group Viva International, world leader in the eyewear sector.
The English brand Umbro, long-time sponsor of the English national soccer team born in 1924 and now owned by Nike, is a leader in the production of sportswear - especially for soccer. The vision and sun collections proposed feature dynamic styling and are extremely lightweight, ideal for active lifestyles both on and off the playing field.
Nickelodeon, the second partner of this double agreement signed by Sover, is the international thematic television station born in England in 1993 that finally arrived in Italy in November 2004 with its programming concentrated on children and adolescents with animated cartoons like Spongebob, Rugrats, Avatar: The Legend of Aang, The Fairly OddParents; and TV series like iCarly, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and Zoey 101. Stars of these Nickelodeon programs inspire the eyewear collections dedicated to ages ranging from two to eleven, conceived to amuse as well as correct and protect.
Stefano Cannicci, newly appointed general manager of Sover, defines the distribution agreements signed during recent months as being strategic: “The company now offers a complete range of products divided by age group, taste, and price. For 2010 we are looking forward to significant growth prospects thanks to quality policies and attention being paid to markets that enable us to propose targeted collections supported by strong aesthetics and quality”.
Sover is located in Soverzene (Belluno) and is part of the group of the same name. It boasts a production unit in Italy and three commercial joint ventures located in Prague, Moscow, and Bucharest. The Sover group operates in more than 60 foreign markets with a consolidated and qualified distribution network that has allowed them to gain footholds in Europe, the United States, the Middle and Far East, and, of course, in Italy.
