Sover: new agreement with Laura Biagiotti
Laura Biagiotti and Sover have announced the signing of a three-year license agreement for the production and world-wide distribution of sunglasses and vision frames with the “Laura Biagiotti Eyewear” label.
Laura Biagiotti was one of the first stylists to launch an eyewear collection in the early Eighties and it was exceptionally successful, especially with the “one piece” model which is still sought-after as a collectible vintage item. Over time, lines have developed and another launch is scheduled for September 2010: a new partner and a new concept focusing on the perception of eyewear - and prescription eyeglasses in particular - as a paramedical accessory. It features the highest technological characteristics combined with extensive experimentation in the use of materials, decorations and personalization.
Founded in the province of Belluno in 1962, Sover is directed by the Cannicci family and it is one of Italy’s leading eyewear companies with the licenses for 1A Classe Alviero Martini, Kiton, Baldinini and Mariella Burani. It is also the Italian distributor for the Gant, Umbro and Nickelodeon brands. In addition, Sover has its own house brands: particularly successful are those dedicated to Zucchero and Irene Fornaciari, which were presented at Mido last March.
The eyewear collections for women are faithful to the style of the brand and feature Sover’s traditional high attention to detail and sought-after design. The launch of the first collection is expected September and its distribution will involve 700 selected outlets in Italy and foreign markets, especially those in Eastern Europe where Sover boasts a widespread presence.
The visuals for the campaign were shot in Rome in June against the exceptional background of Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Via Nazionale. This street has only recently reopened to the public after long restoration work and was made available exclusively to the Biagiotti Group for the photo shoot. Top model Kori Richardson conveyed the romantic flavor of the label for photographer Toni Thorimbert. Inspired by the cable typical of Laura Biagiotti knitwear, which earned her the title of “Queen of Cashmere” by the New York Times, a knot pattern characterizes a sinuous frame with a tortoiseshell effect.
“We are very proud of the path taken with Sover, a reference point in the sector and a guarantee of innovation and quality, characteristics that we believe are essential for coping with new market challenges. Originality, attention to the environment and ultra-comfort define the various lines, together with personalized assistance, a crucial factor in the era of globalization” declared Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna, vice president of the Biagiotti Group and head of licenses.
Sover vice president Vittorio Cannicci expressed his satisfaction with the agreement signed with the Biagiotti label. “An example” – he said – “of great entrepreneurialism and a symbol of the excellence of Italian fashion throughout the world”. Stefano Cannicci, managing director of Sover, announced “original and feminine collections, the expression of technique applied to design”.
