Profession awarded at 36th AdOO Conference
The 36th Conference of the Roll of Optometrists has also made space to thank and award the optometrists whose commitment and passion have brought honor and distinction to the profession. The “Ferrante” award and the “Salvino d’argento” medals are the two prestigious recognitions the Roll will present again this year to those who have distinguished themselves in their profession.
The 18th “Francesco Ferrante” National Award will be presented during the plenary session for the inauguration of the 36th AdOO Conference on the morning of April 25. Named in memory of the young optometrist from Abruzzo who died before his time in Teramo in 1986, the award is for the “Optometrist of the Year”.
Also during the ceremony, thanks will go to the optometrist colleagues who helped the people of Abruzzo following the earthquake of April 6, 2009.
At the gala dinner on the evening of April 25, the “Salvino d’argento” medals will be presented to optometrists with 35 years of service. The award is in memory of Salvino degli Armati, the historical figure traditionally attributed with making the first pair of eyeglasses.
