Prada: new eyewear campaign with exceptional yachters

Faithful to its brand’s historical links with yachting, Prada has launched an international advertising campaign devoted to “active” and “lifestyle” eyewear in collaboration with such exceptional yachters as Dean Barker, Torben Grael, Robert Scheidt and James Spithill. The athletes will be the testimonials for Prada Linea Rossa eyewear and have been photographed in Valencia by the great Franco-American portraitist, Brigitte Lacombe.

The black and white images underscore the natural and spontaneous spirit of athletes who devote their life to the sea and sailing in conditions where eye protection is of primary importance.

The two models in the spring/summer 2010 collection chosen for the campaign have been named after the prestigious yachts that won the America’s Cup:

Intrepid (1967–70) – a wraparound active model especially suitable for strong winds and high speeds; it was chosen by James Spithill for steering the 30-meter trimaran in which he will challenge the catamaran Alinghi at the 33rd America’s Cup. For the occasion, the model has been fitted with the special adaptation “head up display”, similar to that used on fighter jets.

Rainbow (1934) – a model with polarized drop lenses combining excellent performance with the unmistakable style of Prada eyewear.
