Motocross: Rudy Project wins in Morocco French motorcyclist

Six stages, 2,300 kilometers including 1,600 kilometers of special trials, about forty entrants: these are the figures for the 2010 Rally OiLibya of Morocco, which was won by Cyril Despres, followed by Helder Rodrigues and Marc Coma.

It was an excellent test for the French biker who tackled the perils of the desert on the new KTM 450 Rally bike. It was the first time he competed on the bike that was developed to handle new Dakar regulations.

A Rally Raid World Championship external trial, the Rally OiLibya of Morocco is the only one with stages that begin and end in the same location. New to this edition was “sharper” navigation achieved by limiting the radius of disguised waypoints that the contestants had to find with an error margin of 400 meters.

Stage after stage, Cyril Despres chose to rely on Klonyx MX, the Rudy Project goggles that cope with the blinding African sun by guaranteeing maximum protection and clear vision. Different types of lenses are available and range from providing protection from intense sunlight to others more suitable when visibility conditions are critical. To ensure riders the maximum comfort that fosters concentration in competitions, the goggle lenses do not require cleaning thanks to a handy “tear off” system. The nose protector is also essential for protection from the discomfort of burning and from external elements.
