Marcolin expands and inaugurates a new production and logistics center in Longarone

In the presence of local authorities, the Group’s new production and logistics center was inaugurated in the industrial zone of Longarone.

Next to the company’s current headquarters, the new 12,000-square-meter building will enable new spaces to be created to support the company’s growth with maximum synergy and efficiency. All this is due to the fact that its collections under license and the markets to be developed are constantly increasing.

The new facility is already operational and will enable the Group to centralize all its shipping activities and bring all the logistics and after-sales management activities under one roof, which will mean a considerable improvement in service and management efficiency.

It will also enable the development, strengthening and entire management of the strategic finishing stage, the heart of the company’s operations, which will guarantee total control of end-product conformity to meet the demands of the market and the high standards of quality requested by the top-range sector in which the company operates.

The new facility is only one part of the Group’s development project based on the desire to keep the heart of its business in Italy.

In respect of the characteristics that favor the excellence of Made in Italy and despite the ever-increasing competitiveness and cost efficiency levels of foreign producers, the company took the strategic decision to maintain its current levels of production in Italy and, specifically, in Longarone. This made it necessary to centralize production and transfer the historical production department from Vallesella to Longarone, where the facility for the production of acetate frames is already located.

The determination to invest in new development projects is part of a scenario that also includes the creation in Longarone of a new Style Center oriented toward unifying and therefore optimizing the strategic stages of creative and stylistic product development.

It is the start of a new stage of expansion for the Marcolin Group, which closed the first six months of 2010 with doubled profits and strong growth in turnover (+16%).

Massimo Saracchi, CEO and Managing Director, commented: "This fine building that we have just inaugurated is a sign of Marcolin’s positive state of health and of its desire to invest and grow. We want our company to be healthy and strong and able to offer more well-being, not only for its shareholders but also for its employees and the territory where it is located and from which it draws resources and support".
