Maranello – Active Sunglasses at Student Yachting World Cup

The Student Yachting World Cup (www.sywoc.org) took place at La Rochelle with no fewer than 13 trials for Grand Surprise yachts. Thirteen countries selected during the national championships took part in the competition: France, Japan, Ireland, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Scotland, Norway, England, USA, Canada and Italy, which had two teams, CUS Brescia and CUS Milano.

Fourth place went to CUS Brescia (Nicola Barziza, Michele Pavoni, Nicola Pavoni, Marco Giannini, Enrico Carè, Simona Benelli, Alessandra Scaini, Giulia Martello), which did not have any particular problems in the relay and coastal races between 10 and 20 miles. On the contrary, the 27-mile night trial was tough and its main rival, Portugal, was successful in achieving the third place and then the podium.

The Team was also disadvantaged by having 8-man crew: the extra weight combined with very light winds took their toll. Victory went to the Southampton Solent University, England, followed by Switzerland and Portugal. The eighth place went to CUS Milano.
