
Health Risk Management Forum
The fifth edition of the annual appointment, currently taking place in Arezzo, brings together major healthcare professionals in the safety sector. The session devoted to an important debate on eyesight was attended by opticians, optometrists, ophthalmologists and orthoptists. The moderators included Federottica president Giulio Velati.
The Health Risk Management Forum that began last Tuesday in Arezzo and ends today was one of the Italian healthcare system’s most important appointments in the field of safety and an opportunity to compare the best healthcare practices.
Promoted by the Italian Ministry of Health, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Agenas, the Fondazione Sicurezza in Sanità and the Conferenza Stato-Regioni, the Forum aim was to be a benchmark for the future of patients’ safety. The themes of the four-day debates were prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and 360-degree focus on the results of studies carried out during the year.
Significant space was given to eyesight safety with the participation of opticians, optometrists, orthoptists and ophthalmologist. The workshop “Eyesight Day: don’t put eyesight at risk” took place Wednesday, November 24, and included among its moderators Federottica President Giulio Velati and Federottica Arezzo President Mauro Vannelli.
At this session, optician-optometrist Andrea Rattaro, member of the Roll of Opticians and Optometrists coordination committee, spoke about the “new progressive lens technologies providing comfort and functionality”, whereas optician-optometrist Paolo Carelli. Member of the Federottica Board of Directors, talked about the “adequacy of corrective devices for low vision”.
Guests of the event included the Minister of Health, Ferruccio Fazio, the Undersecretary of the Council of Ministers, Gianni Letta, and the Minister of Labor, Maurizio Sacconi. An important international scientific contribution was also made by representatives of Harvard University, who presented the Healthcare Reform Bill prompted by the President of the United States, Barack Obama.
