Eyeglasses, a fashion Choice

STRAWBERRY MOOD
The protagonist is red, fascinating and “Lolita”-inspired in delicious shades of strawberry and forest fruits: from raspberries to blackberries with red currants in between
Red highlights sparkling, sassy, and sunny volumes, making the atmosphere fresh and juicy. After having dominated fashion runways last winter, it is out to conquer eyewear as well. After all, colour is no longer linked to the moment. So make way for red at any time and in all shades! Fiery red for sunglasses frames and more sporty vision frames, luminescent and ironic in acetates for oversized and flashy sunglasses. There are also tortoise and moiré versions available. Lenses play on monochromatic contrasts with shades of the same hue. And for the evening, why not opt for a stunning nuance: coral red, so no one will be able to take their eyes off you. Rose or tulip, strawberry or raspberry, red currant or violet: red is the option for the forever young!

DESERT STORM
Soft tones and new materials: eyewear 2010 rediscovers the atmosphere of tea-time in the desert for an ethno-chic urban dress code
African vibrations for this trend that rediscovers the colours of the earth and launches a smart casual style. Palettes are re-proposed in neutral tones: warm beiges become greyer, oranges turn to reddish hues with violet nuances, greens are paler, and antique pink is dusty. Then there are the classical nuances: vanilla, magnolia, and ivory, breathing life into eyewear that evokes magical harmony, objects of extreme elegance. Desert storm is the style of hues that warm, with a more contemporary flair, for an Afro-mix mood that is also perfect for the city. Sunglasses are bigger, diva-size, and take on softer and smoother lines, like a desert sand dune.

PASSEPARTOUT WHITE

Between school-girlish smocks and chaste, ethereal looks, fashion places its stakes on white. Eyewear sets the trend, but with unique details: from smatterings of rhinestones to bold shapes, always rigorously white!
White frames are ethereal and breezy. Delicate, but only apparently, because they flaunt a character worthy of an absolute accessory of minimalist inspiration, which is at the same time fresh and vital. Whether aviator or oversized, sparkling with a spray of rhinestones or embellished by jewelled logos, rectangular or softer forms, but sure to catch the eye. A quick-change colour, casual during the day, bold in the evening: wearing white means lighting up and attracting attention. White gives you a unique allure. The non-colour that makes no compromises: it was born to be noticed! A dazzling touch that is always “in”, as long as you wear it confidently. White is trendy and elegant!

THE BEATING OF WINGS
Love at first sight: the butterfly style of the 1950s makes a bold comeback after the subtle hints last season. And it seduces everyone with its soft chic.

They had peeped shyly around the door last season, hinting at a trend with its roots firmly set in the past, but it wasn't until this year that they came into full bloom: butterfly eyeglasses, a must of the distant – yet never so close - 1950s returns to surprise and conquer. Just whimsical enough to rewrite the rules of the lightweight romantic and sophisticated style, at the same time they are brimming with a sense of humour. Available in both sunglasses and vision frames, the first ones are bigger and bolder, while the second ones are smaller and embellished with sparkling trims, black or coloured. They embody the soul of cinema and are the right choice for those who are confident enough to play light-heartedly with their own style. Wings and butterflies … and fashion take flight!

BEACH TIME: BLUE AND SIMILAR

Geometric forms and technicolor shades: from sea green to sky blue, from electric blue to indigo. Ocean inspiration!
Fashion rediscovers blue and its vast range of hues, from indigo to lapis lazuli, via cobalt and electric blue, to paler light blue, sky blue, and sea green. According to the dictates of chromotherapy, blue is the spiritual colour par excellence, mystical, a bearer of harmony and inner peace. And now it has reached the top of the colour hit parade for 2010 trends. Even eyewear has picked up on the fad for super-glamorous frames. For those who feel a bit artistic (after all, even Picasso had his Blue period!), here are the hues which revitalise your look and your entire wardrobe. And for eyeglasses, the winners are ice lolly hues tones of sky blue and mint green. To be chosen according to your mood and style.

NERDS REVIVAL
70s prescription frames sport stark cuts and are highly noticeable: in either rock or bon-ton versions. Vintage is here to stay! The choice is up to you!
First there was Ugly Betty, then the Italian Arisa, and finally Patty (from the Argentinean soap Patty’s World): they imported prescription eyeglasses, big ones in acetate, typical of the teachers’ pets from 1980s sitcoms (the so-called nerds). And today they have indeed become a trend among internationally famous VIPs who are reviving the nerdy style (just to mention a few: Scarlett Johansson, Dita von Teese, Moby, Johnny Depp.) The world of eyewear has been taken over by this trend and finds a happy ending to the “Revenge of the Nerds” begun in long-ago 1984: being brainy is really cool! And in 2010 large prescription glasses with bold cuts and looks are back in fashion, an "aesthetically innovative" (and courageous) choice that many sincerely like!

DEEP NIGHT

It is impossible to get rid of it, it is the only colour that never faces a crisis, never goes out of fashion, appealing to everyone all the time. We are speaking of black, of course. Chic, night&day, and never lets you down!
Black is forever - just like diamonds! Because in the end the dark mood is the leader, whatever the season. It might be its eclectic style, its versatility, or the timeless grace and elegance that surround it, but even 2010 eyewear season (clothes and shoes) refuses to give up its black style. A rerun of the all-time classic: star style! Big glasses in acetate, more round than square. In smooth acetate and, a novelty this year, often worked with laser techniques to reproduce elaborate lace designs. This non-colour is once again at centre stage with a “fatal attraction”, refined, elegant and sophisticated. It is impossible not to surrender to it timeless charm!
