Eye Factory awarded at IOFT 2010

Eye Factory, the very young company set up in September 2009, presented its first collection with the Muse Occhiali label at Mido 2010. This line is the result of the passion, work and expertise of its founding members, president and CEO Alessandro Del Fabbro, Maurizio Silvestri of the marketing division, Guido Medana of the research & development division, and designer Alessandra Lonido.

The team’s first tangible result is the Muse collection with Spine Technology, the international and exclusive patent that guarantees great performance and maximum comfort for wearers.

Eye Factory took part in the latest edition of the international optical fair, IOFT 2010, where it won the “Eyewear of the Year 2011” award in the “Functionality and Design” category.

Spine Technology comes from Guido Medana’s genius and is the outcome of his collaboration with Eye Factory, which led to innovations in shape, content and functionality. Aesthetically, it makes no distinction between male and female versions and the temples are joined to the front piece by means of a flexible structure featuring a series of vertebrae that allow temples to open and close without the use of screws or pins. The special characteristic is the spine-shaped hinge that makes any other decoration of the temple superfluous.

Thanks to this new hinge, ceramic, carbon, zircon and many other precious metals are no longer simply decorative elements but make up the structure and functional parts of the frame. Friction between the different elements in the opening-closing angle allows each component to rotate by only 18° for almost zero wear and practically infinite durability. If dropped, the temples spread out in different directions so that the eyeglasses won’t break or be damaged.

The Muse line was created by designer Alessandra Lonido who sees emotions as a source of inspiration and technology as their embodiment in models characterized by clean, minimalist lines with solid colors and inimitable details.
