Esimit Europa 2 triumphant at Giraglia Rolex Cup

After 23 hours and 9 seconds of a thrilling race in bad weather conditions and against contestants of undoubted caliber, Esmit Europa 2 was the first to cross the finishing line in the ocean trial at the Giraglia Rolex Cup, one of the most important and prestigious regattas in the Mediterranean Sea. Organized by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with the Yacht Club de France, Société Nautique de Saint Tropez, the Yacht Club Sanremo and Rolex, 248 yachts representing 17 nations took part in this year’s race covering 245 miles.

At about 10.30 am, Esimit Europa 2 passed the Aregai buoy and reached Sanremo at 11.05 am in a real-time win. It also won the Rolex Cup and the Lavainville Cup for the first classified yacht, and the Beppe Croce Cup for the first yacht to reach the Giraglia rock.

The entire booty went to Esimit Europa 2. Supported by the Russian colossus Gazprom and under the patronage of the European Union, it raced as ambassador for the European Energy movement and had a special partner on board: Rudy Project. Throughout the race, the crew wore Zyon Sailing with side shields designed to protect the eyes from side reflections, wind and squirts of water. Moreover, the exclusive photochromic and polarized ImpactX lenses eliminate reflections from the water, increase contrast and depth perception, and allow the onboard instruments to be seen clearly.

To solve his vision problems, Igor Simcic wore Zyons with ImpactRX, the vision/sun lenses that are the outcome of the development of ImpactX technology, improved with optical correction. ImpactRX permit close-up and distance vision without any interruption of regatta activities.

Zyon Sailing has stainless steel components to prevent saltwater corrosion and a buoyant adjustable strap keeping them firmly on the head - even during the most extreme actions - and afloat when they fall into the water.
