Colorado Show: “Risate in Vista!”
For years, the non-profit organization CBM Italia Onlus has been fighting blindness and physical and mental disabilities in developing countries. In support of its solidarity projects in the southern part of the world, on the occasion of the World Sight Day the organization yesterday held a benefit evening with the usual SMS fundraising campaign.
The protagonists of “Risate in Vista!” at the Del Verme Theater in Milan were not only the celebrities in the audience and presenter Rossella Brescia, but also the television program’s most popular faces such as Omar Fantini, I Turbolenti, Angelo Pintus, Paolo Casiraghi, Vito Carrer, Felipe, Ivan Martorelli, Didi Mazzilli and Massimiliano Pipitone.
The first row was occupied by CBM Italia’s many friends and testimonials who support the organization’s mission and were also on the panel of judges for the 5th edition of “The Right to Sight” award.
In the non-profit organizations and institutions category, the prize went to the Santa Lucia project by Clinica Oftalmologica Università degli studi “Gabriele D’Annunzio” of Chieti Pescara. Also in this category, the Istituto David Chiossone Onlus received a special mention. The superabile.it portal won the prize in the journalists and newspapers category. The winner of the 1st edition of the photography award sponsored by Kodak Italia was Elio Filidei Junior and his photograph “comunque luce”.
The main aim of “Risate in Vista!” is to promote awareness-raising and fundraising campaign by CBM Italia to support a project that will restore the sight of a great many children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. From October 11 through 31, to donate 2 euro to CBM Italia’s projects just send a solidarity SMS to the number 45505 from all Tim, Vodafone, Wind and 3 mobile phones, or call the same number from Telecom landlines.
Like every year, support for the organization of the event was requested from: Lombardy Region, Province of Milan, Municipality of Milan, and the High Patronage of the President of the Republic. To spread the results of the global program for fighting avoidable blindness by 2020, “Vision 2020 – The Right to Sight”, in 1999 the World Health Organization (WHO), of which CBM is a partner, created the World Sight Day, the most important point of the program.
