Chrome Hearts, spring/summer 2011

Chrome Hearts, spring/summer 2011

The new collection of 11 models for men and women is one of the most significant to be launched by Chrome Hearts in recent years. In addition to the customary high standard of quality and attention to detail, it has placed special emphasis on important technological innovations, design and frame finishes. These characteristics can be found in six sun models and five vision models of this new collection.

An obvious example of these innovations is the navigator model for men, which has a frame with dual pressure and three-dimensional components in titanium combined with an integrated bridge in flexible titanium that allows the eyewear to adapt to different types of faces. Decorated with the typical cross in 925 silver, the handmade temples in acetate also feature an integrated hinge and the classic ‘plus’ motif on the ends of the temples.

Another model is one of the most innovative thanks to a unique flex movement that has never been introduced in the optical industry until now. The front piece in three-dimensional titanium is embellished with enameled inserts. The temples are made by coating the beta titanium core with thin layers of plastic, which are then removed from the center to give the temples their special flexibility. Each temple is decorated with three elements in 925 silver and the iconic Chrome Hearts motif along the length and on the end pieces.

One of the feminine models for women is made in beryllium copper and has free lenses applied by pressure and not with a nylon wire. The front piece is decorated with a multicolor tag, the handmade temples in acetate have integrated flex hinges in 925 silver and the decorative elements that are typical of the brand, like the Chrome Hearts cross motif and the ‘plus’ on the end pieces.

Other sunglasses in the S/S 2011 collection are two plastic models for men decorated with the iconic Chrome Hearts ‘FLERKNEE’ motif inspired by the stitching on apparel worn by American bikers. Another item of the collection is a beautiful aviator model for women with a semi-rimless frame and flexible temples in beta titanium.

The vision line includes five new models. Four of these are handmade in acetate or in an acetate and metal combo. Special depth is given to each model by a sophisticated three-dimensional bonding technology. These models come in the large palette of Chrome Hearts colors and are decorated with the “FLERKNEE” motif on the temple joints.

The last model features a semi-rimless titanium front piece with hidden temple hinges. Made from a laminate of fine exotic wood, the temples include the additional design element of a layer of aluminum that also makes them more robust. The temples are decorated with the typical ‘plus’ motif on the joints and a laser-engraved cross motif hand-drawn by Richard Stark, the founder of Chrome Hearts.
