Cébé presents the “adopt a child’s sight” campaign

At the press conference held at Mido today, the Bushnell Group brand, Cébé, announced the partnership with CBM Italia Onlus for the “Adopt a Child’s Sight” operation. Also taking part in the press conference were Dr. Awoke Getahun Meseret, an ophthalmologist at the St. Francis Higher Clinic in Ethiopia, Giusy Laganà for CBM Italia and Astrid Galimberti, General Manager of Mido.

Following the example of the “I am with Mido” campaign, Cébé has decided to support a social promotion campaign. By making a donation, Cébé will support the work done by CBM Italia at the St. Francis Higher Clinic in Ethiopia where, together with Dr. Awoke Getahun Meseret, surgical operations and treatment are carried out at the hospital and throughout the area by means of mobile ophthalmic units in the region of Oromia.

From March through October, the purchase of any Cebé eyewear for children will come with information about CBM’s program in Ethiopia for preventing and treating blindness and any form of vision defect in children, and how to support it.

During the presentation of the project, Marco Ribaldone, General Manager of Bushnell Italia, restated: “It is important to prevent damage to children’s eyesight because the eyes are particularly sensitive to extreme conditions during the development stage. This is why all Cébé’s eyeglasses for children are either protection level 4, or they have a Melanin filter which protects the eyes from the harmful blue light responsible for serious damage to the retina. Therefore, it was natural that Cébé would follow the excellent example of the “I am with Mido” project and support the prevention campaign by CBM Italia Onlus. The funds we will donate will be added to those collected at Mido: this year, it will donate 1 euro for every visitor to the exhibition in addition to the spontaneous donations by companies and visitors”.

Astrid Galimberti stated how pleased she was to see that Mido’s example has encouraged a company to support a social cause.

Cébé will publish the results of its project at World Sight Day, October 14, 2010.
