Carl Zeiss Vision Italia: changes at the top
Carl Zeiss Vision announced that Lorenzo Ungaro (in the picture) has decided to leave the company in Italy.
Thanks to the 15 years that Lorenzo Ungaro has devoted first to Sola Optical and then to Carl Zeiss Vision Italia, the company has gained the leadership of Italy’s ophthalmic market.
Carl Zeiss Vision Italia announced that Ungaro has decided to leave the company in Italy and that Paolo Azzini will become General Manager starting February 8.
Paolo Azzini, 46, is from Milan and is a law graduate. He comes from Cirsa International Corporation Italia, where, as General Manager for the past five years, he has been instrumental in the decisive turnaround of Italy’s gaming and entertainment business.
Previously, he acquired important experience in the L’Oréal Group, mainly in the Professional Products Division (Hairdressing) and Luxury Products: specifically, he was General Manager of the Professional Products Division of Lancôme in Spain and Venezuela.
In Europe, Paolo Azzini will report to Thomas Radke (Vice President Europe). He will be a member of the European Leadership Team at Carl Zeiss Vision and take part in the preparation and implementation of the European Sales Strategy in Italy.
“Joining a company that has always been the world leader of the optics sector is an opportunity that fills me with pride, also because I am aware of the strategic importance of Italy as one of the main markets for the Group at international level” – commented Paolo Azzini – “I trust that my enthusiasm and experience will be useful to the company and that my expertise and determination will meet the challenges from an increasingly competitive and sophisticated market and from sector operators wanting effective solutions and rapid responses for overcoming a difficult economic situation. Thanks to the high standard quality of our products and services for customers, I am certain that Carl Zeiss Vision’s role as company leading the optics segment will be confirmed and strengthened also in Italy”.
